A man was arrested in connection with a DeSoto County crash that killed a 27-year-old Arcadia man on Monday.
The crash occurred on NE Turner Avenue near Fiveash Street at approximately 4:46 a.m. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the driver of a Ford Mustang, later identified as Brian Esteban Capote, 30, was traveling at a high rate of speed and didn't take any evasive action before crashing into the Toyota Tacoma that the 27-year-old man was driving.
According to FHP, the right front of the Ford Mustang collided with the left rear of the Toyota Tacoma, causing the Tacoma to travel off the roadway, overturn, and collide with a tree.
The 27-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene, and Capote was taken to an area hospital, FHP said.
Capote is facing charges of vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and driving while his license was suspended involving a death. He was booked into the DeSoto County Jail, and FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
