NAPLES, Fla. (WINK)— The U.S. Men's National Team closed out group play against Turkey as fans gathered at the official World Cup watch party in Naples.
After the rain cleared, fans settled in under the glow of the big screen at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex to watch the match. The atmosphere was electric as supporters cheered on the national team in their final group stage appearance.
"We've got an international coach that has a lot of experience in some of the biggest leagues and biggest games and best players in the world, and we just seem to have a team full of maybe the most talent we've ever had," one fan said.
With a spot in the round of 32 already clinched, the match didn't carry major implications for the standings. Still, longtime fans found excitement in every moment of play.
"It's been amazing seeing how U.S. soccer has been performing in this World Cup. It's truly a unique experience for me because I grew up watching soccer 2018, 2012 World Cup. It just means a lot to me in my heart," another fan said.
Fans from different backgrounds filled the lawn, showcasing what the World Cup does best. The event brought people together through a shared love of the sport.
"I feel like soccer is like a sport meant to bring cultures together. Like, you know, you got the Americans coming in, you got people from all over the world coming in, watching the same game, same sport, have the same passion. It's like very like, it's a very beautiful thing to watch," a fan said.
The U.S. plays its first round of 32 match on Wednesday.
