An Immokalee man was arrested in Lee County after deputies say that he threatened a victim's sons with hammers at a Lehigh Acres Family Dollar on Tuesday.
According to an arrest report, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to the Family Dollar on Lee Boulevard in reference to a disturbance involving hammers. Upon arrival, deputies say they met with the victim and Gonzalez Fleriot, 26.
The victim told LCSO that she was standing in an aisle of the Family Dollar with her sons when Fleriot pushed the cart he was steering into one of her sons. She added that Fleriot didn't apologize and began arguing with her.
According to the victim, Fleriot continued arguing with her after she took her sons to the front of the store to pay for her items. She told deputies that Fleriot then left his juvenile daughter at the front of the store to get two hammers and approached her sons. She said that Fleriot was clanking the hammers together while cursing at her and her sons.
A store clerk working at the Family Dollar told LCSO the same story as the victim, adding that Fleriot left the store when he knew that deputies had been called to the Family Dollar, the report says.
Deputies say video footage from the store shows the victim's sons standing by the store's entrance, and Fleriot walking aggressively toward the front door holding a hammer in each hand.
Fleriot was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill.
The report says that the Department of Children and Families was notified of the events due to reports of Fleriot leaving his child at the register to retrieve the hammers.
