Law enforcement responds to overturned boat near Sanibel Causeway

SANIBEL, Fla. (WINK) — Sanibel Fire & Rescue District and the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to an overturned boat located near the Sanibel Causeway.

Law enforcement responded to the scene on Friday afternoon and began towing the vessel from the waterways.

WINK News reported Damien Alvarado is on the scene, speaking with the boat's occupants and gathering information regarding the overturned vessel.

Our team contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office regarding this overturned vessel and whether they had assisted in any capacity.

The sheriff's office responded by saying all occupants are accounted for and "fine", and this call has been turned over to the United States Coast Guard. 

Deputies further clarified that four people were on board the vessel.
