Police and firefighters respond to non-fatal child drowning incident on Marco Island

Officers and firefighters responded to a non-fatal drowning incident involving a child on Marco Island Thursday.

According to the Marco Island Police Department, the incident happened in the 900 block of Hunt Court at 4:30 p.m., and Marco Island Fire Rescue also responded.

Within about 90 seconds of being dispatched, the police said they arrived on scene and provided lifesaving measures to an injured child.

The child was taken to the hospital for treatment by Collier County EMS, and they suffered serious injuries, so they remain hospitalized and are receiving care, according to officers.
