MARCO ISLAND, Fla. (WINK)—A woman was seriously injured after falling from a moving golf cart Thursday night.
Marco Island Police Department officers and Marco Island Fire Rescue firefighters responded to the incident just after 8 p.m. on July 2. The woman sustained serious injuries in the fall and was transported by Collier County MedFlight to a local hospital for further medical care.
The Marco Island Police Department is reminding golf cart and low-speed vehicle operators and passengers to prioritize safety as the Fourth of July weekend approaches. All occupants should remain properly seated while the vehicle is moving.
Drivers should avoid sudden turns, acceleration or braking and should never allow passengers to stand, sit on laps or ride in areas not designed for passengers.
Operators should also obey all traffic laws, avoid distractions, never drive impaired and ensure children are properly restrained when required.
Police are urging residents to slow down, remain alert and help make the holiday weekend safe for everyone.
