CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — Three adults were displaced after an electrical issue outside a Cape Coral home led to a power outage Sunday, prompting a response from the American Red Cross.
The incident occurred on Northwest 12th Street, where an electrical problem ignited a trash can outside the residence. There was no structural damage to the home, according to the Cape Coral Fire Department.
The electrical issue required LCEC to disconnect power to the home, leaving the occupants without electricity. The American Red Cross was called to assist because the home was uninhabitable due to the loss of power.
Volunteers with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team from the Southwest Gulf Coast to Glades Chapter responded to provide emergency assistance to the three adults affected.
The Red Cross said it is providing emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, and one-on-one support to help connect the residents with available recovery resources. The organization said it will continue working with the affected residents to address disaster-related needs.
