An 18-year-old was arrested in Naples on Sunday after being accused of drug possession and having fake IDs.
According to the Naples Police Department, officers responded to Seagate Beach in reference to a parking violation at around 2:39 a.m. Officers made contact with a man in the driver's seat of a running car who appeared to be unresponsive.
Officers struggled to wake the man and eventually opened the door to make contact with him, afraid that he was suffering from a medical emergency. According to the report, when officers opened the door, they noted a strong odor of burnt marijuana.
The man, identified as Kelly Mardi, 18, woke up and told officers he was okay, NPD said. Officers asked Mardi if he had anything to drink, to which he replied, "a little earlier."
Mardi was then asked if he had any illegal narcotics or weapons in the car, to which he replied, "just a cart," NPD said. Mardi then got out of the car and was detained by officers while they searched the vehicle.
The search yielded a dinosaur bag containing multiple vape device and a green leafy substance, which tested positive for marijuana. The search also found multiple THC vapes and two fake IDs, according to the report.
Mardi was arrested and faces charges of two counts of unauthorized possession of a driver's license, 45 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 46 counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, one count of possession of cannabis over 20 grams, and 35 counts of a person under 21 violating tobacco laws.
