Weeks after shots were fired in a Cape Coral McDonald's parking lot during a dispute in June, police have made an arrest in connection with the incident.
Cape Coral and Fort Myers police officers arrested Jamar Maurice James Jr., 19, at a Sky Zone Trampoline Park on the night of Friday, July 3.
The shooting incident occurred shortly after midnight on June 2 at a McDonald's at 8 NE Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, no one was injured, and video showed a man brandishing a firearm while in an argument with bystanders. CCPD detectives said James was seen getting into the front passenger seat of a black Chevrolet Suburban before firing multiple gunshots from within the vicinity of a crowd. The vehicle then left the area before officers arrived.
Forensics personnel collected evidence from the scene and identified James as the suspect, police said.
James was taken to the Lee County Jail on charges of discharging a firearm in public (a second-degree felony) and disorderly conduct (a second-degree misdemeanor).
