Victim identified in deadly Collier County house fire, investigation ongoing

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — WINK News has learned the identity of the person who died in a house fire in Collier County on Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded just before 10 a.m. to a home on Hickory Road North, west of Goodlette-Frank Road and south of Vanderbilt Beach Road.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Pamela Messano, 47, was found dead inside the home. Another person, a man, 54, was taken to the hospital with burn injuries.

His current condition is unknown. 

A North Collier Fire Control & Rescue District firefighter was also hospitalized for heat exhaustion while battling the blaze but has since returned home.

Due to the home's large size and unique layout, crews called for additional resources. Firefighters also had to cut through the garage door to gain access to the house.

North Collier Fire Control & Rescue District said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

WINK News is working to learn more about the condition of the person who suffered burn injuries.
