A Cape Coral man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after he made mass shooting threats on an adult website.
Robert David Chisholm posted threats on the adult app "Sniffies" and faced a charge of written threat to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
The FBI's National Threat Operations Center received a tip from an adult website about a user posting messages about a plan for a mass shooting at Yellow Fever Creek Park in Cape Coral, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The user also referenced the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.
CCPD's FBI Safe Streets Task Force Officer tracked the user's IP address to a residence in Cape Coral and recognized Chisholm from a 2023 investigation, police said. The same officer had received a tip from the same adult website that someone had posted threats about conducting a mass bombing.
In that investigation, Chisholm told authorities that he posted those threats, and he was then arrested, according to the police.
Police said that Chisholm cooperated and acknowledged he violated his probation, which was until 2033, and he is prohibited from accessing the adult website.
