SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are tracking another round of scattered storms this Tuesday before hotter and drier conditions head our way.
Heat and humidity dial up Wednesday as afternoon temperatures climb into the mid-90s, with heat index values reaching 105 to 110 degrees in some Southwest Florida communities.
High pressure will build overhead Wednesday and remain in place through the weekend, bringing lower rain chances and higher temperatures.
Wednesday morning will start in the upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s by the afternoon, with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated storms are expected during the afternoon and evening, with 30% rain coverage.
Thursday will begin much the same way, but afternoon temperatures are expected to run a degree or two warmer than Wednesday.
A plume of Saharan dust will reinforce the drier pattern while allowing temperatures to climb even higher.
That plume of Saharan dust is expected to linger through the weekend, creating hazy skies at times and enhancing the potential for vivid sunrises and sunsets across Southwest Florida.
