EL JOBEAN, Fla. (WINK) — Charlotte County's old Fire Station 3 on El Jobean Road has been demolished to make way for a new, hurricane-hardened facility at the same location.
The original station was built in 1977 and served the community for decades, according to Charlotte County Public Safety. The new facility aims to provide more space for firefighters and better support the area's growing needs.
During construction, Fire Station 3 personnel and equipment will operate from a temporary location at Randy Spence Park at 4333 Kerrigan Circle. Engine 3 and Rescue 3 will remain operational throughout the project, and emergency response coverage will continue for the area.
The new station is funded through the voter-approved 2020 1% Local Option Sales Tax. Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2027.
