Man found hiding in screened lanai bathroom arrested on armed burglary charge in Cape Coral

A Cape Coral man was arrested after officers say he was caught walking around a property and was eventually found in a screened lanai bathroom.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers were called to a home in response to reports of a man walking around on Tuesday. Witnesses told officers that a man was walking around the property during the day and returned later in the evening.

Officers say they found the suspect, Christopher Felix Santos, 35, inside a closed pool bathroom inside a screened lanai.

While Santos was being detained, officers say they saw multiple firearms inside the bathroom, including a loaded AR rifle, two handguns with optics and lights, camo clothing and blue tennis shoes.

An investigation later revealed signs of forced entry into the property, including fresh pry marks on doors leading to the residence, CCPS says. They add that surveillance footage shows Santos walking around the property and checking access points.

Santos was charged with armed burglary of a dwelling.
