Motorcyclist leads troopers on high-speed Lehigh Acres chase, ditches bike before arrest, FHP says

Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a man they say led them on a 95 mph chase on a motorcycle before ditching the bike and running away.

According to FHP, troopers attempted to stop a motorcyclist for reckless driving after the driver performed a wheelie. The motorcyclist fled, reaching speeds of 95 mph on SR-82 and Alabama Road.

The chase ended at a dead end off of Meadow Road, where the motorcyclist ditched the bike and began to run, FHP said. Troopers and deputies from the Lee County Sheriff's Office located the suspect and apprehended him.

The suspect, identified as Devin Gaines, 19, was arrested and faces charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and operating a motorcycle without a license.
