SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — WINK News Weather Authority meteorologists are forecasting dangerous heat with record highs and very hot "feels like" temperatures the next few days.
Starting mild and dry this Thursday with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. A large plume of Saharan dust continues to move into Southwest Florida throughout the day. Plan for a mainly dry day with only a few storms (20% coverage) developing throughout the late-afternoon and evening. Record heat is expected with highs in the mid to upper 90s. All of Southwest Florida is under a heat advisory as "feels like" temperatures will range from 106 - 112°.
Friday starts dry with temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s. While a large plume of Saharan dust will continue to move over Southwest Florida, more moisture will also be moving in and this will increase rain and storm coverage throughout the day. Plan for scattered storms (50% coverage) throughout the afternoon and evening. The hot and drier air mass will enhance some of those storms and a severe thunderstorm with damaging winds and intense lightning cannot be ruled out. Temperatures top out in the mid to upper 90s with "feels like" temperatures ranging from 105 - 111°.
Saturday morning starts dry with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. While Saharan dust will continue to move across the state, scattered storms return for you Saturday plans. Those scattered storms (40% coverage) are expected throughout the afternoon and evening. Strong to severe storms with damaging winds and intense lightning are also possible. Temperatures top out in the mid to upper 90s with "feels like" temperatures ranging from 105 - 111°.
