1 arrested after chase and PIT maneuver near State Road 82 in Lee County

A driver was arrested after a chase and PIT maneuver in Lee County on Thursday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an SUV accused of driving fast in the area of State Road 82 and 40th Street in Lehigh Acres.

The driver reportedly refused to stop, sped up and drove recklessly, according to troopers.

A PIT maneuver was performed to stop the SUV. Troopers said the driver was accused of running from the scene, but he was caught.

The driver will be taken to jail, and he will be facing charges including fleeing (felony), reckless driving and more, troopers said. There were no injuries reported.

FHP said the name of the driver cannot be released yet because he is not booked.
