PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)—Two people were found dead inside a Port Charlotte home during a well-being check, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.
A peaceful neighborhood on Rock Creek Drive was suddenly surrounded by deputies on Wednesday. The well-being check led to the discovery of two people dead inside a home.
Investigators say the incident appears to be isolated. There is no threat to the community.
Longtime neighbor Rick Spargo says he was heading to his truck the next day when a deputy stopped to ask if he knew the people who lived there.
"I said I didn't know them, and I didn't even know what happened until he told me, the policeman," Spargo said.
The sheriff's office says identifying the two people will take time due to the condition of the bodies. Once next of kin are notified, more information will be released.
The sheriff's office is releasing very few details, saying only that the two people have not yet been identified. Deputies continue their investigation.
