2 women found dead in Immokalee home, suspect caught within hours

IMMOKALEE, Fla. (WINK)—A suspect is in custody after a double homicide in Immokalee that sparked a search across multiple counties.

Collier County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a home on North 9th Street at 8:34 a.m. after a report of a possible shooting, where they found the bodies of two women, ages 25 and 29.

Lorenzo Coleman, 25, of Immokalee, was arrested on a Collier County Sheriff's Office warrant and charged with two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm, one count of child abuse and one count of grand theft auto.

Coleman, who was known to both victims, fled the scene in a white Dodge Challenger as deputies were responding.

The child abuse charge stems from a juvenile who witnessed the killings, and the Challenger Coleman fled in was stolen.

Deputies flooded the area, CCSO Aviation searched from above and analysts in the Real-Time Operations Center used technology to track down the vehicle.

A neighbor described the scene.

"I looked outside and there was crime scene tape put like on our power pole, and I just like started walking down the driveway, and there's like 20 cop cars just everywhere," the neighbor said.

The search ended in Lehigh Acres, where Lee County deputies took Coleman into custody. A neighbor witnessed the arrest.

"I did see that the suspect was walking to a cop car, kind of escorted, but didn't look like he was giving anybody a like a hard time," the neighbor said.

Neighbors say the loss of two young women shook the community. Jaeden Barrera, who works nearby, reflected on the impact.

"Our community is always close. We always come together when stuff like this happens," Barrera said.

Even with the suspect now in custody, neighbors say the heartbreak is far from over. 

"Such a sad situation, unfortunately, and it's even more sad that they're still all so young, and now we have three lives that have all completely changed," the neighbor said.

Investigators have not yet released how the two women were killed or what may have led up to the incident. Coleman was booked into the Lee County Jail and will be extradited to Collier County in the coming days.
