NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — While summer is still in full swing, many shoppers are already thinking ahead to back-to-school season, and local boutiques say August is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe before schedules become hectic.
At Mainstream Boutique in North Fort Myers, owner Brooke Jensen said early August is when many of the season's newest styles arrive, making it an ideal time to shop before popular pieces sell out.
"School is around the corner, and now is the time before everyone's lives get busy," Jensen said.
The boutique offers a wide variety of everyday fashion for women of all ages and sizes, with styles ranging from casual outfits to pieces that can easily transition from daytime to evening. Shoppers can find everything from denim and wide-leg pants to flowy dresses, lightweight tops and accessories.

Jensen said one thing that sets Mainstream Boutique apart is its constantly changing inventory.
"During season, we have new clothes daily on the floor," she said, " We also have clothes for all ages and body types."
As students, parents and teachers prepare for the new school year, comfort and versatility continue to be major fashion trends. Lightweight fabrics, easy-to-layer pieces and outfits that can go from the classroom to after-school activities are expected to remain popular this fall.
In Southwest Florida, Jensen said dresses are leading the way this season. From short styles to flowing maxi dresses, breathable fabrics are making it easy to stay cool while still embracing fall fashion.
"We're seeing dresses in lighter fabrics, both short and long," Jensen said.
While bright colors and playful patterns continue to reflect Florida's tropical style, traditional autumn shades are also making a comeback. Rich browns, earthy neutrals and warm tones are expected to pair with pops of color throughout the season.
"We're in Florida, so we do wear a lot of colors here, but we're going to be seeing brown as well," Jensen said.
Fashion experts have also highlighted elevated basics, wide-leg denim, matching sets and textured fabrics as some of the biggest trends heading into the fall, giving shoppers plenty of options to mix seasonal styles with pieces they can wear year-round.
With new arrivals coming in regularly, Jensen said now is the time for shoppers to start building their back-to-school and fall wardrobes before the busiest shopping weeks of the season arrive.
