PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK) — Charlotte County Fire & EMS crews stopped a vehicle fire from spreading to a nearby home Saturday morning.
At approximately 6:01 a.m., crews responded to Marcus Street in Port Charlotte for reports of a vehicle on fire just feet from a residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved vehicle in the driveway, approximately one foot from the front of the home.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading into the residence. The home sustained only minor fire damage, limited to a small portion of the soffit.
The fire has been classified as accidental, with the cause listed as undetermined electrical. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials recommend having vehicles regularly inspected and addressing electrical issues, warning lights, unusual odors or signs of overheating promptly. They also advise avoiding leaving batteries, charging devices or other electronics plugged in or inside a parked vehicle for extended periods.
