PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)— The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office has determined the causes of death for two men found at a Port Charlotte home earlier this week.
David Michael Dermer Sr., 72, died of accidental/natural causes, according to detectives with the Major Crimes Unit. His son, David Michael Dermer Jr., 45, suffered a mental health-related death in the 2000 block of Rock Creek Drive.
Deputies responded to the address on Wednesday for a well-being check. Two deceased individuals were located inside the home.
Identification of the individuals could not be made immediately due to the amount of time that had passed and the resulting condition of the bodies. Detectives have been investigating the pair of deaths since the discovery.
The sheriff's office said its hearts are with the family and friends of these men as they navigate the pain of losing two loved ones so closely.
