IMMOKALEE, Fla. (WINK)—A family is grieving after two women were shot and killed Friday.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on North 9th Street in Immokalee. Two women, ages 25 and 29, were found unresponsive on the floor with gunshot wounds to the back and chest.
The alleged killer, Lorenzo Coleman, remains in custody. WINK News spoke with the family about their devastating loss.
Mazzy Robbins says her sister Rheannon and cousin Eliza were her world. The family asked that Rheannon's identity remain private.
"I was in shock, I couldn't sleep for two days," Robbins said.
Coleman took off after the shooting. He was soon located and arrested in Lee County.
The victims' family says Eliza and Rheannon had lived together in Immokalee for years, and that Eliza was in a relationship with Coleman.
"I looked at Eliza as a sister, and Eliza was the closest cousin. Eliza and Rheannon will always be missed," Robbins said.
As investigators continue to work the case, Robbins says she and her family are still processing the devastating losses.
"Losing a sibling is losing half the heart, and I never experienced something like this before. And I just want peace and love for my loved ones," Robbins said.
Coleman is charged with two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm, one count of child abuse, and one count of grand theft auto. The Collier County Sheriff's Office says a child witnessed the homicides.
Coleman fled from the scene but was located and arrested in Lehigh Acres on Friday morning. He has since been transferred into Collier County's custody.
