Estero sports park construction underway on Via Coconut Point

Construction is underway on Via Coconut Point for infrastructure supporting the Village Center Hub SportsPark, a 100-acre development next to Estero High School that will include sports fields, entertainment facilities, and infrastructure upgrades.

The park will feature a driving range, sports fields for young athletes, and entertainment facilities. High 5 Exchange, an entertainment company, plans to open a bowling alley and indoor pickleball facility as early as February.

"I'm sure everyone has seen the headlines. There's been all of these new communities that are popping up in the eastern part of Lee County and Collier County," said realtor Leonor Enguita of Heritage Home Team. "Having something for these families to do and the snowbirds that are coming down to retire is going to be something that's just another selling point for people to want to live here."

To support the planned activities, project leaders are working on a safe entrance on Via Coconut Point.

"As you traverse through Via Coconut today, you'll see both the Lumio project and our project, the sports park project, creating in the median new left turn lanes," said Michael Comparato, a consultant for the Village of Estero with Vieste, LLC.

Via Coconut Point North will remain closed through July 31 for entrance construction and irrigation work.

Father Estherson Celestin said the project is well worth the work.

"Hearing there is going to be more that my son or my daughter could do in the neighborhood or play around, it sounds great for sure," Celestin said.

Infrastructure work is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with the entertainment district scheduled for completion in 2028.
