Lee Memorial blood drive honors Fort Myers officer killed in 2018 shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — A blood drive is underway at Lee Memorial Hospital to honor a fallen Fort Myers police officer on Tuesday.

In 2018, Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller was shot while investigating a robbery. He died a week later at 29 years old.

A blood drive has been held in his honor every year since his death. The drive is taking place at Lee Memorial Hospital from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Wednesday.

The director of the blood center spoke about the importance of donating blood.

"It's a great way to honor Adam's memory," the director said.

On Thursday, the blood drive will continue at the Fort Myers Police Department during the same hours. Organizers say donating blood genuinely saves lives.
