Lee Memorial Hospital blood drive honors fallen Fort Myers officer Adam Jobbers-Miller

Jason Drew is "Gulfcoasting" at Lee Memorial Hospital for the kickoff of the eighth annual Adam Jobbers‑Miller Blood Drive — a three‑day community event honoring the fallen Fort Myers police officer whose legacy continues to inspire lifesaving donations across Southwest Florida.

The blood drive began Tuesday morning with an opening ceremony attended by the Jobbers‑Miller family, the Fort Myers Police Department Honor Guard and Lee Health leadership. The opening remarks featured voices from across the community, including Fort Myers police Capt. Roger Valdivia, Lee Health Blood Center Administrative Director Jeremy Puckett, Nurse Executive Renee McCauley, trauma surgeon Dr. James Kasiewicz, Chief of Police Jason Fields and the Rev. Denise Sawyer.

Drew was live on-site as Puckett shared how crucial blood donations are for surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, premature infants and countless medical emergencies. A single donation can save up to two lives — a powerful reminder of the impact this event makes each year.

The blood drive honors Jobbers‑Miller, who was shot in the line of duty in July 2018 and died after a week of care at Lee Memorial Hospital. His family, the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee Health continue to host this annual event to turn tragedy into community strength, encouraging Southwest Florida residents to donate in his memory.

Donors participating in the three‑day event will receive a Jobbers‑Miller T-shirt and commemorative pin — a tribute to his courageous service to Fort Myers.

The blood drive runs July 21-22 at Lee Memorial Hospital, with the opening ceremony Tuesday from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and donation hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
