2 arrested in DeSoto County child abuse investigation

Deputies with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office arrested two people on child abuse charges after an investigation.

Back in June, DCSO deputies responded to a complaint of child abuse. During this investigation, deputies concluded that the child had received serious injuries on more than one occasion.

Two people were arrested in connection to this case: Keith Rivers and Kourtney Essick.

Rivers faces charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child. Essick faces charges of neglect of a child with failure to report and neglect of a child with great bodily harm.
