Active investigation shuts down I-75 in Lee County, traffic heavily impacted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK) — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is on scene conducting an active investigation on Interstate 75 southbound, closing lanes while on site. 

At around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement blocked all southbound lanes near Mile Marker 126.

The Florida Highway Patrol is on location and is the lead investigator regarding this matter.

It remains unclear why law enforcement is on location or how long the roadway will be closed.

WINK News contacted the sheriff’s office regarding this investigation. Few details have been shared; however, deputies urged motorists to find an alternative route while this investigation is underway.
