Cape Coral Parkway's future up for debate at public workshops

CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — The city is holding Cape Coral Parkway Resiliency Workshops Thursday and Friday, and they're open to the public.

The workshops are happening at the City of Cape Coral Public Works Building, located on Nicholas Parkway right between the police department and local tax collector's office. Officials are kicking off a series of public workshops to help develop a 20-year vision for the parkway, and they want the public to help shape it.

Back in May, the city asked folks who drive, bike or walk down Cape Coral Parkway every day to take an online survey about what is and isn't working and what they would change about the parkway if they could. On Thursday, they will dive into those answers.

They're going to discuss the feedback they received on issues like traffic and access, pedestrian and bike safety, flooding, stormwater management and even landscaping. Residents will also have the chance to ask questions, share ideas and help guide the next phase of the study.

The goal is to create a roadway that better meets the community's needs for years to come. Thursday's workshop is at 2 p.m. and should last about two hours.

Everyone from residents to business owners are invited to attend. If you can't make that one, there's also an open house Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a presentation.
