FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK)—A new restaurant is bringing a fresh approach to dining in Southwest Florida by combining Latin and Japanese culinary traditions with locally sourced ingredients and healthier cooking methods.
El Jardín partners with local farms, fisheries, ranchers, and artisans to showcase seasonal ingredients in every dish. The restaurant sources locally caught seafood, farm-fresh produce, and carefully selected meats, crafting everything from scratch with a focus on sustainability and bold flavors.
"By supporting local producers, farmers, ranchers and fishermen, El Jardín aims to strengthen the connections that make Southwest Florida unique while delivering food that is fresh, flavorful and thoughtfully prepared," owner Brad Cozza said. "Every meal is designed to highlight the natural character of its ingredients, creating an experience that is both elevated and approachable."
The menu draws inspiration from Latin American and Japanese culinary heritage, honoring traditional techniques while embracing regional diversity. El Jardín cooks without seed oils, using avocado oil and traditional beef tallow instead.
Standout starters include Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice with yellowfin tuna, spicy aioli, and scallions, as well as house-made empanadas. Options include Queso with four cheeses and salsa verde, Short Rib with caramelized onion and Gruyere, or Pollo with roasted chicken and chipotle crema.
The Garden Chop features Florida greens, baby heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, asparagus, and seasonal vegetables with champagne or miso vinaigrette. Entrées include Miso Mojo Beef with charred bok choy and cilantro-lime rice, Yuzu Adobo Half Chicken with local vegetables over cilantro-fried rice, and a Smash Burger with Angus beef patties, bacon jam, and house pickles.
The cocktail menu matches Escondido Lounge's offerings, with additions such as the Jardín of Eden, made with mezcal, celery, chartreuse, and lime. The Garden Margarita combines tequila, snap pea cordial, pineapple, and lime.
El Jardín will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with extended hours until 10 p.m. on weekends for the summer.
