Port Charlotte man shoots family's car after dispute, now on the run

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WINK)— The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man accused of firing shots at a family-owned vehicle following a domestic dispute.

Deputies responded to Cape Terrace NW in Port Charlotte after receiving reports of gunshots.

The Major Crimes Unit investigated and learned that George V. Kilgore III, 44, allegedly shot at a vehicle parked at the residence after a dispute with his family.

No one was injured, and no other property was damaged in the incident. Kilgore fled the area on foot before law enforcement arrived, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators established probable cause to arrest Kilgore on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm in public or on residential property.

The firearm allegedly used in the incident was recovered from the residence during the execution of a search warrant.

Kilgore has not been located, and an active felony warrant has been issued for his arrest.
