CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) — The Cape Coral Police Department has arrested two teenagers accused of vandalizing six public toilets and two soap dispensers with explosive devices.
On Wednesday, police arrested the two teenagers following a report of criminal mischief at Jim Jeffers Park.
According to police, the two teens destroyed six public toilets and two soap dispensers with M-80s, causing around $3,000 worth of damage.
Police identified a yellow Chevrolet Camaro entering the park during early morning hours. The surveillance footage then showed two individuals exiting the vehicle and entering the restroom area, where multiple flashes, consistent with explosions, were observed.
Upon interviewing the two teens, police say they admitted to using the explosive devices inside the toilets, causing the extensive damage.
Both teens were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Structure with Criminal Mischief Over $1,000, Arson, and Criminal Mischief Over $1,000.
