LEE COUNTY, Fla. (WINK)—Robin Cabrera was driving home from the movies when he got a front row seat to a high-speed car chase.
"A lot of crazy stuff happens here on the road, and my friends never believe me," Cabrera said. "So I was like, you're gonna see it now."
Cabrera shot video on his phone showing troopers performing a PIT maneuver, sending the suicidal murder suspect into the wall and into an hourslong standoff on the interstate.
"At first I was like…are we serious?" Cabrera said.
The standoff ended in gunfire and handcuffs. The Lee County Sheriff's Office released new video that shows deputies deploy a dog and arrest Ladavion King for a domestic murder in St. Pete.
Court records show this isn't King's first encounter with police. He previously served eight years in prison after pleading guilty to unarmed carjacking in Pinellas County back in 2012.
The shocking standoff left some people shaken.
"It's insane. I mean, you really don't know who your neighbors are, who you're driving next to," Cabrera said. "So it was definitely a bit of a wake-up call to me."
