Englewood 14-year-old's 47-second hat trick could land him in Guinness records

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WINK) — A 14-year-old soccer player may soon have his name in the Guinness Book of World Records after scoring three goals in just 47 seconds of game time.

Rowan Boyer's hat trick ranks as the fastest in youth competitive soccer and fourth fastest ever recorded. It wasn't until weeks later that Boyer realized he had beat a world record.

Boyer has scored his fair share of goals with the U14 Englewood Chaos, but this one was different. A hat trick—three goals by the same player in a single game—is already a big deal, but Boyer did it in just 47 seconds of game time.

"Off of kickoff in the second half, my coach said go all at it," Boyer said. "So we all went for the ball, and then we went to left wing and crossed it, and I ended up getting the ball and scoring."

Then they reset, and he did it again, and again. From the first goal to the third, including celebrations and kickoffs, 104 seconds passed in real time.

"My mindset was just towards the game," Boyer said.

When Boyer and his dad rewatched the game film, he realized he'd done something special.

"I was watching my game footage, and I'm like, Dad, why is this so fast?" Boyer said. "I was kind of shocked. I was like, Dad, can we get submitted? I'm like, This is actually crazy."

Boyer submitted the video to the Guinness Book of World Records about two months ago. He's still waiting on his certificate.
