Restored Crescent Beach park on Fort Myers Beach park welcomes visitors back after Hurricane Ian

A popular Fort Myers Beach park is set to reopen at sunrise Wednesday, following a $1.3 million restoration project that rebuilt and enhanced the beachfront park after Hurricane Ian.

According to Lee County Parks & Recreation, contractors began removing construction fencing at Crescent Beach Family Park on Monday, but officials said visitors should remain out of the park until the official reopening Wednesday morning while final work is completed.

The project restored the park while adding new accessibility features and visitor amenities. Improvements include shade structures and utility connections for an ADA-compliant modular restroom facility, integrated bike racks, a picnic area, a landscaped pedestrian path and four beach access points, including one ADA-accessible beach access route.

The park, located at 1100 Estero Blvd., once again will provide public beach access and amenities for residents and visitors after the $1.3 million restoration.

"The reopening of this park is something to celebrate," Lee County Commissioner David Mulicka, who represents District 3 and Fort Myers Beach and serves as vice chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, said in a statement. "This is but just one milestone of many more to come as our beach parks reopen with resilient amenities for our visitors and residents to enjoy."

Lee County said the project was funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Regional Park Impact Fees and Tourist Development Taxes through the Beach and Shoreline Program.
