NAPLES, Fla. (WINK)— A 16-year-old swimmer died after going missing in choppy gulf waters near the 2nd Avenue North beach end on July 28, 2026, according to a press release from the Naples Police Department.
The Naples Police Department and Naples Fire-Rescue Department received a report of the missing swimmer at approximately 2:08 p.m. Initial reports indicated the teenager was swimming in choppy waters when he disappeared from view.
A county-wide Marine Emergency Response Team was initiated to help locate the swimmer. At approximately 2:25 p.m., the teenager was found in the surf and pulled from the water.
The swimmer was unresponsive and not breathing, so CPR procedures were started. He was transported to an area hospital but could not be resuscitated.
