2 arrested after being accused of street racing in front of officer in Cape Coral

A Cape Coral man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of street racing on Nicholas Parkway. According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, shortly after midnight, an officer saw two cars, a 2021 White Nissan Altima, being driven by Anthony Grass Perez, 19, and a White Nissan Titan, driven by an unnamed minor, traveling eastbound on Southwest Pine Island Road approaching Nicholas Parkway. As the officer approached the vehicles, they slowed to approximately 10-15 mph in a 50 mph zone, the arrest report said. The two drivers seemed to be having a conversation while driving. As the vehicles got closer to Nicholas Parkway, the drivers lined up next to each other and then accelerated quickly and began to race, the report said. The Titan accelerated in a way that caused the back end of the vehicle to fishtail and lose traction. The vehicles were traveling at approximately 60 mph, the report said. The officer activated their lights and pulled over both vehicles. Grass Perez was arrested and faces a charge of street racing. The minor was arrested, but no additional details are currently available.
