Homicide investigation underway after man dies in Lehigh Acres driveway

Lee County deputies are investigating a homicide along 22nd Street Southwest in Lehigh Acres after a man was found dead in a neighbor's driveway. “It’s shocking. Every day you think you’re living in a neighborhood like this that’s normally quiet, and then something like this happens,” said Noelbis Albeja, a neighbor. Video captured paramedics performing CPR on the injured man, who reportedly came from the backyard of an abandoned duplex to a neighbor’s residence asking for help. The neighbor called 911, but despite paramedics’ efforts, the man died on the driveway. Deputies spent much of the day collecting evidence and speaking with neighbors. “Someone came by. I don’t know if they were detectives or not, but they asked if we had heard any gunshots the night before. We didn’t hear anything,” Albeja said. Authorities have confirmed this is now a homicide investigation and have not shared who the man was or how he died. When asked if there are any suspects or persons of interest, deputies said there is no new information beyond what's been posted on their X account. “I wish everyone would be a little more compassionate and think things through before doing something like this. We’re all just trying to live peacefully here,” Albeja said.
