Naples teen pulled from choppy seawater, first responders unable to resuscitate

NAPLES, Fla. (WINK) — The Naples Police Department and the Naples Fire-Rescue Department responded to a report of a missing 16-year-old swimmer, whom they were unable to resuscitate. 

On Tuesday at around 2:08 p.m., first responders arrived in the area of the 2nd Avenue North beach end after initial reports that a juvenile was seen swimming in choppy waters and was no longer in sight. 

A county-wide Marine Emergency Response Team was called to search for the missing 16-year-old.

At around 2:25 p.m., the teen was located and removed from the waters. First responders performed CPR on the teenager, as they deemed them unresponsive and not breathing at the time of recovery. 

According to the Naples Police Department, the teen was then transported to a nearby area hospital but was unable to be resuscitated. 

No further details have been released at this time.
