NAPLES, Fla. (WINK) — Taco lovers have a new reason to head to Downtown Naples.
Whether you're fresh off the beach, taking a lunch break or strolling down Fifth Avenue South, Barrio Taqueria is serving up fresh, street-style tacos in a laid-back setting where flip-flops are just as welcome as date-night attire.
Located at 539 Fifth Ave. S., Barrio Taqueria was created as a fast-casual concept inspired by the same passion for quality food behind Unidos, but with a focus on quick service, fresh ingredients and bold Mexican flavors.
Owner Sal Muñoz said Fifth Avenue was missing a casual spot where people could grab an authentic meal without the formal atmosphere.
"I wanted to create a restaurant where you can stop by in your casual clothes and grab lunch. Or you can pop in after a long day at the beach," said Muñoz. "We're one of the only Mexican places in the area."
The menu is packed with favorites, including steak, chicken, shrimp and slow-cooked birria tacos, all topped with fresh ingredients and served on corn tortillas. The birria tacos come with a rich consommé perfect for dipping, while the shrimp tacos combine mango, guacamole, pico de gallo and the restaurant's signature green sauce for a sweet and savory bite.
But it's not just the tacos that make Barrio unique. Many of the recipes have a personal story behind them.
"A lot of the food has a personal twist on it," said Muñoz. "The recipe for the rice was from my grandmother. The Caesar salad dressing is from my chef's family back in Colombia."
Beyond tacos, guests can also enjoy house-made empanadas, cheesy quesadillas, burrito bowls, fresh salads, Mexican street corn, guacamole and chips, plus refreshing agua frescas and a sake hibiscus margarita.
With colorful décor, upbeat music and a welcoming atmosphere, Barrio is the kind of place where you can swing by for a quick lunch, fuel up after a beach day or satisfy a late-night taco craving.
