A Marco Island police officer helped rescue an injured burrowing owl on Tuesday. According to the Marco Island Police Department, Officer Terranova responded to a call from a group of concerned residents regarding a possibly injured burrowing owl on Tuesday evening. Terranova responded to the scene and was able to safely secure the owl and ensure it received care from trained wildlife professionals. The owl is currently being cared for at MIPD until it can be transferred to a properly licensed wildlife rehabilitation organization, the department said.
