Firefighter injured, building evacuated after early morning Marco Island high-rise condo fire

Marco Island firefighters rushed to a high-rise condo building in the 900 block of Cape Marco Drive after flames ignited on the 25th floor of the building. Firefighters responded at approximately 1:09 a.m. Thursday and, after finding the blaze, Marco Island police officers and fire personnel evacuated the building. According to Marco Island Fire Rescue, no building occupants were injured during the incident. Fire officials said one firefighter sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Marco Island Fire said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Greater Naples Fire Rescue, the Naples Fire Rescue District, and Collier County Emergency Medical Services also responded to the incident.
