SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) — As teachers put the finishing touches on their classrooms before the new school year begins, one Naples business is helping to make those spaces a little more colorful and comfortable.
Hadinger Flooring is once again hosting its annual Teacher Rug Giveaway, giving educators from Collier and Lee counties the chance to take home a free classroom rug while supplies last.
Teacher, arrive as early as 5:30 in the morning to get their hands on a rug. This year, over 150 teachers showed up to secure their rugs.
The event has become a beloved Southwest Florida tradition. Started in 2009 by Judy Hadinger, the giveaway was created to support local teachers, many of whom spend hundreds of dollars of their own money each year decorating and stocking their classrooms. Over the years, the program has grown significantly, with Hadinger Flooring donating hundreds of rugs to educators throughout the region.
Hadinger Flooring, a family-owned business that has served Southwest Florida for decades, says supporting local teachers is one of the many ways it gives back to the community. " I was a teacher myself. It's great to see so many teachers come out and get rugs. A rug van truly change a space."
With classrooms getting ready to welcome students back in just a few weeks, the free rugs are designed to help teachers create warm, inviting spaces where learning can thrive.
