SWFL voters say cost of living is the top issue in Florida's primary

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — Florida's primary election is coming up, and for many voters, one issue is standing out above the rest: affordability.

Families across Southwest Florida say their monthly budgets are feeling the squeeze. Everyday expenses like groceries, gas, childcare and rent or mortgage payments are adding up, forcing people to make tougher choices about where their money goes.

With the primary approaching, some voters say they are paying closer attention to candidates, looking for someone they believe can help bring down the cost of everyday life.

David Bone, a Florida neighbor, shared what matters most to him heading into the election.

"Most important, I mean, prices and cost of living's one," Bone said.

He also said the issue is widespread among people he knows.

"A lot of people that we talk to have have the same opinions about costs, so you know they they may try and have their voice heard at the polls," Bone said.

Voters say being able to live comfortably in Southwest Florida is a top priority as they head to the polls, and they will be looking for the candidate they believe can make that a reality.
