Golden Gate man airlifted after late-night stabbing on Sunshine Boulevard

GOLDEN GATE, Fla. (WINK) — A man was flown to a hospital after being stabbed during a fight in Golden Gate late Friday night.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office received a call at 11:56 p.m. reporting a stabbing in the 1800 block of Sunshine Boulevard. The victim was stabbed after a fight with another man, according to the sheriff's office.

A medical helicopter transported the victim to a hospital for treatment. One person was taken into custody at the scene.

Detectives arrested Jose Cabanzo-Cruz, 23, of Naples, in connection with the incident. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Collier County jail.

The sheriff's office said this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public.
