More than 30,000 pounds of trash cleaned up from Port Charlotte wooded areas

Deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office along with other organizations cleaned up more than 30,000 pounds of trash from wooded areas in Port Charlotte. According to a post from CCSO, members of their Community Police Unit, Charlotte County Public Works, Keep Charlotte County Beautiful and the department of corrections spent time around Cedarwood Street, Lullaby Street, Spear Street and Kenesaw Street. Crews worked to clean the woods where deputies say numerous illegal homeless encampments had been set up in the past. After two days of cleaning, 160 yards of trash were collected. This amounts to 31,000 pounds, or 15.84 tons of trash.
