Shooting at Twin Falls In-N-Out restaurant leaves 3 dead, 7 injured

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (WINK)—Three people were killed and at least seven others were injured after a shooting Saturday afternoon at an In-N-Out restaurant.

Authorities said the shooting happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. local time in a busy commercial area on the city's north side. The shooter is now dead. Police are continuing to work to determine the shooter's identity, whether anyone else may have been involved and what led up to the violence.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators are interviewing hundreds of people who were in or around the restaurant when the shooting happened.

One witness, Jaylyn Sanchez, said she was inside the restaurant's bathroom when she heard gunfire. She said people began screaming and crying as others rushed into the bathroom to take cover. After they were told it was safe to leave, Sanchez said she ran outside through the drive-thru before unexpectedly coming face to face with the gunman.

"As I was running I faced the shooter head on and he pointed the gun at me," Sanchez said. "I ducked behind a white car just to have some sort of coverage. I saw a pistol on a gun case I am guessing was his. I didn't have anything to protect myself so I grabbed the gun and I pulled it back. It was jammed so I just felt helpless. I saw the truck in front of me so I got in the car and left."

Officials said a number of victims were taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment. During the emergency response, police closed roads and a nearby bridge while first responders secured the area. The FBI also responded to assist with the investigation.

As of Sunday morning, authorities had not identified a motive for the shooting.
