Firefighters rescue two cats from Fort Myers house fire Monday

Firefighters are battling a house fire on Meadow Avenue in Fort Myers on Monday morning. According to the Fort Myers Fire Department, crews responded to the home on Meadow Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. after a driver passed the house and reported that the single-story home was engulfed in flames. Within minutes of receiving the call, FMFD crews were on scene and began to work the fire. A search team was sent into the home, and two cats were rescued, FMFD said. No injuries were reported. According to FMFD, the home is in an extreme hoarding condition. Crews remain on scene, continuing to apply water to the fire. At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
