Hendry County early voting underway with Florida primary weeks away

LABELLE, Fla. (WINK)—Early voting started in Hendry County, with voters turning out despite rainy weather.

The county's supervisor of elections said voter turnout has been decent and she expects more people in the coming days. Early voters have 13 days left to cast their ballots.

Early voting is happening at two spots in Hendry County—the Supervisor of Elections office in Clewiston and the office next to the LaBelle Courthouse. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day through Aug. 15.

WINK News saw voters pass dozens of campaign signs lining the roadways. With so many options, she asked some early voters what went into their decision.

"Longevity, you know, transparency, you know all of that. It's what we're looking for," Roberto Maseda said.

Maseda also shared his priorities for the election.

"My concerns are to keep the city safe, especially the county, which they're doing a very good job at that," Maseda said.

Laenia Lopez also cited transparency as a key factor in her voting decision. Elections are a chance to use your voice, and a mix of opinions were heard throughout the day.

Primary day in Florida is in two weeks and a day.
