Lee County approves purchase of 4 parcels for Conservation 20/20

Lee County Commissioners voted on Tuesday to approve the purchase of four parcels to support the Conservation 20/20 program. Three of the parcels are on Pine Island, and one is an infill parcel bordered by the Orange River Preserve east of I-75 on Palm Beach Boulevard. Commissioners also approved advancing two additional parcels to the Tier 1 priority list for potential acquisition. According to the county, the board voted to approve a purchase agreement for two contiguous Conservation 20/20 parcels, one of 27.9 acres and one of 28.13 acres, at 9901 Stringfellow Road in Saint James City. The purchase prices are about $1.4 million and $285,000, respectively. The board also approved a purchase agreement for a parcel of about 10 acres near the intersection of Stringfellow Road and Monaco Lake Drive on Pine Island for $400,000, and another purchase agreement for about 3.5 acres at 10301 Palm Beach Boulevard east of Fort Myers for $495,000. There are currently 31,773 acres within the Conservation 20/20 Land Acquisition Program, according to Lee County.
